Dive & Travel Expo Prepares to PLUNGE into the 10th Annual Treasure Hunt

The 6^th Annual Dive & Travel Expo, held April 20-21, 2013 at the Greater Tacoma Trade and Convention Center, is preparing to hold its 10^th Anniversary Treasure Hunt at Owen Beach in Pt. Defiance.  The Treasure Hunt is the real reason for the Dive Expo. Scuba Diving is what we do! The contest is open to all certified divers who want a chance to plunge into the Puget Sound to find a trove of golf balls. Each golf ball represents a treasure with a chance to win $1000. This lucky Scuba Diver gets to wet his/her fins and do what beckons us all – underwater treasure hunting!

It is a special year as we look back at our history and celebrate 10 years of great friendships and incredible diving. We are offering all pre-registered divers a special edition 10^th Anniversary T-shirt commemorating the event.  Every diver who signs up early will receive a “Been There Done That” shirt. This year we have made some changes to the Treasure hunt prize distribution as we seek to make improvements. “Sometimes our improvements are appreciated … sometimes not as much,” says Event Director Rick Stratton.  Divers only need to find one ball and only one ball per diver will be eligible to win. Each ball gets placed in a random drawing for a prize, ensuring a fair shot at all the prizes. The $1000 prize is a SPECIAL golf ball and is still in the hands of the skilled or lucky diver.

We thank all our sponsors for donating incredible prizes including IST Sport who is donating our grand prize. One lucky diver will win a full set of dive gear – including Mask, Fins, Snorkel, BCD, Regulator with pressure gauges, Wetsuit and dive computer! This is simply “Wow!” says Stratton. Additionally we want to thank LightnBeyond for donating almost $1000 in dive lights to our lucky contestants as well as many other incredible prizes.
