First Annual Scuba Pageant Promotes Awareness

The first annual Miss Scuba USA, sponsored by Oceanic Worldwide, will take place June 6 -8 in Long Beach, CA. Twenty lucky contestants will compete for the title during an open-water dive at an undisclosed Southern California dive site where they will demonstrate their grace and charm beneath the waves. But the competition isn’t strictly based on beauty and poise – diving aptitude, leadership capabilities, and knowledge of oceanography and the marine environment, will play a crucial role in determining the winners. The winner will go on to tour the country where she will spread the passion of scuba and marine awareness. Only open water certified female divers between the ages of 18 – 26 at a minimum height of 5’4’’ may quality. Submissions must be received before April 1 along with photographs and an entry fee of $1,000.
